I saw a note on the Abbeyleix Facebook page last night saying how Danny of Preston House is going to appear on Winning Streak today so best of luck to Danny.

I forwarded that note to my Facebook page and then this morning it dawned on me to add that the nicest meal I have eaten outside Dublin was actually in Preston House in the last month or so.  I know I said this on my Facebook page then, so I said it again today.

My brain moves slowly first thing in the morning, because after saying that on my Facebook page I thought, well if you’re doing it on Facebook Jane, why not on your blog.  Lots more people will see this post then and realise that Preston House has a very good restaurant.

I lived in Dublin for 25 years, and I was well fed up there :-)  We went out regularly, generally to the same places but every couple of months we’d go to the goodies.  So, I’ve eaten in many restaurants and I can honestly say that the nicest meal I ate anywhere in Ireland outside of Dublin was in Preston House, Abbeyleix, Laois

If you are travelling down the country, then Abbeyleix and Durrow are two must see towns, full of history and if you want to have lunch in either, then Preston House is definitely a place to try.  One thing to note, it is not cheap.
