Ballygalget Roman Catholic Parish Records,
Diocese of Down & Connor,
National Library of Ireland film ref 5478. PRONI ref 74
These parish records begin Jan 11th, 1828 and continue through to Dec 19th, 1880. There is a gap between April 1835 and June 1852, and another between 1864 and 1866.
I transcribed as best I could *some* baptismal entries from the Roman Catholic parish register of Ballygalget for the months June to August of 1852. The records are in bad condition, very difficult to read! Place names are given in some instances. The word Bally is listed as the letter B. in a placename.
Besides the bad condition of script, the first thing that struck me about these records is the fact that the name of the mother is rarely given, the first letter of the first name of the father is all that is listed in a few instances.
The records are in English. I give the spellings as I read them. Question marks indicate those letters or words I had a difficulty with.
