Laois (Queen's county)

Parishes of county Laois

August 2003

This is a work in progress. Each parish page has a set of links to other pages relating to that parish (with the exception of graveyard indices). For the most part, the links are not yet active. That is to say the web pages for those links have not been created, but will be over time. The links on Aghaboe are almost complete

Lewis in his Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, 1837 names other places as parishes of Co. Laois, while Mitchel in his Genealogical Atlas of Ireland, 1996 (5th printing) does not. The list above has been created using Mitchels Atlas. Conversely, Lewis, 1837 makes no mention of parishes listed above (e.g.Ardea).

The following parishes were described as belonging to Co. Laois in 1837.

Ballintubber or Fonstown (Fontstown)
