Gravestone Inscriptions in Ballymakenny, Co. Louth.
Transcribed by James McGarry and published in Seanchas Ardmhaca.'Ballymakenny graveyard is situated on one of the old north roads, three miles from Drogheda.....around the 1785 church of St. Nicholas (Church of Ireland)' Mr. Garry gives a reference to Fr. Thomas Gogarty 1908 and that there was a church of St. Patrick at the Ford of the Two Forks only two hundred yards from the present church.

Crutum prote Morientem parcator aspice. Here lies the remains of the Revd. James Read, Parish Priest of Termonfeckin who died on the 2nd of June 1815 aged 52 years. And the remains of Revd. Richd. Trenor, Pastor of Dyzard who departed this life the 13th June 1816 aged 62 years. And also the Revd. Patrick Murphy, Parish Priest of Haggardstown who died on the 8th Sept 1831 aged 80 years.
Rev. James Silcock for 20 years Rector of Ballymakenny. Born May 9th 1809. Died April 19th 1887 and his wife Ellen who died Nov 3 1911 aged 86 years.
