"BALLYNEFAGH, or BALLINAFEAGH, a parish, in the barony of CLARE, county of KILDARE, and province of LEINSTER,4 miles (w. N. w.) from Clare, on the road to Edenderry(County Offaly); containing 614 inhabitants.

It is nearly surrounded by the bog of Clashaghbane, and contains 2184 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act.

The living is a vicarage, in the diocese of Kildare, and in the patronage of the Crown ; the rectory is impropriate in Lord Cloncurry. The tithes amount to £105. A church and glebe-house have been lately erected; and there is a glebe of 14 acres, in five parcels.

There is a school of about 130 children.

Note : In the Roman Catholic divisions, Ballynefagh is part of the union of Clane and contains a chapel
