The
names of the Heads of Household for townlands in this parish have been
transcribed by Jane Lyons. Name spellings are for the most part as written
on the Enumerator Sheets and do not necessarily conform with the name
the surname is spelled on the Forms returned by the individual Heads
of Household. Townlands are spelled here as transcibed and do not necesarily
agree with the spelling as per the 1851 Townlands directory
All townlands in Powerstown Civil Parish are on Kilkenny Ordnance Survey Maps Sheet No. 25 The 1901 census Film reference for Powerstown Civil Parish is DED 66 & some 67 on film No. 65-71 (NAI) ; MFGS 15/15 ; LDS 840953 There was a Roman Catholic Church in Tomnahaha. No distinction is made on the enumerator sheets between Powerstown East and Powerstown West. Both townlands were listed as Powerstown and one of these had no occupants. It is believed that this was Powerstown West because of the reference number on the film
