Old Roman Catholic Graveyard, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland
I was
on my way from Castlecomer to Coan (Coon) in Kilkenny and took a road
just across from the Protestant Church in Castlecomer and I didn't expect
to find a graveyard until Coan when all of a sudden there it was on
the side of the road. This is a lovely little graveyard, restored and
well maintained by the locals. I met a man there who told me that the
man responsible for the restoration had died of a heart attack inside
in the Church when working on it one day. Mr. Heffernan is now buried
in the graveyard. The photographs of the oldest stone can't be read
but the surname on the stone is Clancy. The Moor family farm is right
next door to the graveyard but the Moores like most the other surnames
in the graveyard are no longer in the area.
