Transcribed Gravestones of County Laois or Queen's County

This section of the web site is currently undergoing change. The new format for gravestone pages will follow that of Abbeyleix Old Roman Catholic graveyard. Most of these links are to old style pages listing the surnames and names found in the graveyard e.g. Abbeyleix Church of Ireland, or transcriptions of the inscriptions on stones such as for Bordwell.

During 1998-2000, I transcribed stones from a large number of Laois graveyards concentrating only on those stones with pre-1901 dates. Unfortunately, a large number of the stones are no longer legible and have not been for the last few years and so cannot be absolutely identified in photographs.

Laois people can also be found buried in the following graveyards in other counties

1. Ballymacmurragh, Co. Offaly

2. Galmoy, Co. Kilkenny
