Ballyroan Ballyroan civil parish lies right beside that of Abbeyleix. There is a small village called Ballyroan incresing in size as new houses are built for those who wish to commute to where-ever they work. People would even commute to Dublin! Roads lead from Ballyroan village to Portlaoise, Abbeyleix and Carlow. There is a Protestant church in the centre of the village and a Roman Catholic Church just outside the village. The village is only two and a half miles from Abbeyleix and there are many people from Ballyroan buried in Abbeyleix. The Roman catholic Parish records for Ballyroan are to be found amongst those of Abbeyleix.
