KILLENY, or KILLEANY; a parish, in the. barony of CLARE, county of GALWAY, and province of CONNAUGHT, 2 miles (S.) from Headford, on the road to Lough Corrib ; containing 1572 inhabitants.

The living is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Tuam, forming part of the union of Kilkilvery : the tithes amount to £148. 4s. 2¾d.

In the Roman Catholic divisions the parish is part of the union or district of Headford (Kilkilvery civil parish); the chapel is a small thatched edifice.

There are two private schools, in which are about 90 children.
