Killeany or Kilenny Civil Parish, County Laois, Ireland

KILLEANY, a parish, in the barony of STRADBALLY, QUEEN'S county, and province of LEINSTER, 3 miles (N.) from Stradbally, on the road from that place to Portarlington; containing 121 inhabitants.

Petty sessions for the district are held here irregularly.

The living is a rectory, in the diocese of Leighlin, and in the patronage of the Bishop: the tithes amount £50. The living of Corclone parish was formerly united to that of Killeny (Killeany)

In the Roman Catholic divisions it forms part of the union or district of Stradbally.

There are some remains of the ancient castle.
