Roscomroe Gravestones, Offaly or King's County, IRELAND This is the graveyard I was in the day I visted Ballymacmurragh, and a local man came out to talk to me as I photographed stones. The church and graveyard had been restored the year before and I'm sure he told me that a grant of somewhere in the region of 10,000 Euro had been given for the work, it might even have been only for the 'restoration' of the remaining church window. As with all the restored graveyards, the old marker stones had been re-placed in nice neat little rows. Marker stones don't have names, they were just used to mark where bodies lay and you find them in all the very old graveyards and some not so old. Of the stones that stand today, there are a number which can't be read - and then all those marker stones. Surnames
