Those surnames with an asterisk have spellings exactly as listed here in 'The Surnames of Ireland' Edward MacLysaght, sixth edition (1997), published by the Irish Academic Press, ISBN 0-7165-2364-7. I have not used this book in the creation of this list, however consulting this book will give you some idea of where the surname or it's variations may possibly be found in Ireland.
