Crohane or Croghane Civil Parish, Tipperary County, IRELAND

CROGHANE or CROHANE, a parish, in the barony of SLIEVEARDAGH, county of TIPPERARY, and province of Munster, 2 ¼ miles (E.) from Killenaule; containing 1393 inhabitants.

This parish, which is situated on the confines of the county of Limerick, comprises 5524 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act, and valued at 4460 per annum.


It is a prebend and vicarage, in the diocese of Cashel, forming part of the union and corps of the archdeaconry; the tithes amount to £300.

The parochial school is aided by the rector; and there is a Roman Catholic pay school, in which are about 70 boys and 50 girls.
