Killesk - Ballaghkeen barony

KILLESK, a parish, in the barony of BALLAGHKEEN, county of WEXFORD, and province of LEINSTER, 2 miles (S,) from Oulart, on the road from that place to Wexford; containing 1036 inhabitants.
This parish comprises 3849 statute acres, and contains abundance of limestone, gravel and marl; the system of agriculture is improving.
It is an impropriate curacy, in the diocese of Ferns, forming part of the union of Castle-Ellis; the rectory is impropriate in the Earl of Portsmouth. The tithes amount to £164 2s. 3d., of which £87 16s. 10d., is payable to the impropriator and £76 5s. 5d., to the curate.
In the R.C. divisions it forms part of the unions or districts of Oulart and Castlebridge.
