Ireland.

According to Lewis Topographical Dictionary of Ireland (1837): RATHSARAN, a parish, in the barony of UPPER OSSORY, QUEEN’S county, and province of LEINSTER, 2 ¾ miles (W.) from Rathdowney, on the road from Dublin to Thurles; containing 868 inhabitants. This parish is bounded on the west by the county of Tipperary,”

Rathsarn was actually one of the first graveyards for which I transcribed the stones back in the 1996-98 period

These photographs were taken June 2008

Rathsarn (Rathsaran) Gravestone Transcriptions

Please note, the gravestone transcriptions were made in the 1996-98 time period, the photographs were not taken until 2008.  In the ten year time frame some stones will have become illegible, therefore if you think your family are or might be buried in Rathsaran and cannot see a photograph with your name on it, please go to the transcriptions as I may have been able to read the stone at that time and have the information in that document.
