    BALLYNOCKEN, a village, in the parish of FENNAGH, barony of IDRONE EAST, county of CARLOW, and province of LEINSTER, 8 miles (S. W. by W .) from Myshall; containing 26 houses and 169 inhabitants.

    Some remains of the old church yet exist. Sir. Wm. Temple resided at Staplestown, from which many of his letters are dated: there are still some remains of the house in which he lived.
