It is situated near Lough Foyle, on the road from Derry to Moville. A grant of a market, and four fairs was made to the inhabitants in the reign of Chas. I.; the market has long since been discontinued, and the fairs are very indifferently attended. Near the village are several handsome gentleman's seats which are noticed more particularly in the article on Upper Moville.
