    BOHILLANE, or BOHOLANE, a parish, in the barony of IMOKILLY, county of CORK, and province of MUNSTER, 2.75 miles (E.) from Cloyne, containing 487 inhabitants.

    It is situated on the road from Ballycotton to Castlemartyr, and comprises 1848 statute acres as applotted under the tithe act, and valued at £959 per annum. The land in general is tolerably good, and the greater part is under an improved system of tillage; in some places, the soil is light, and rests on a substratum of clay-slate; in others, stiff and compact, occasionally abounding with springs; and in some, loose and shivery, absorbing great quantities of moisture.

    The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cloyne, and in the patronage of the bishop: the tithes amount to £191 10s. 3.50 d. There is no church; the Protestant inhabitants resort for divine service either to Itermorrough or Cloyne. The ruins of the old church form a picturesque object; near them is a glebe of 12a. 2r. 36p., but there is no glebe-house.

    In the R.C. divisions this parish forms part of the union or district of Ballymacoda in Kilmacdonough.
