This is an index to the names of children baptised in the Roman Catholic Parish of Loughrea, Galway in the year 1840.  Their parents names are also included in this index. First names are given in Latin (generally speaking) in this section of the register and I’m afraid the priest was not all that great at Latin, mothers have an o as the last letter of their first name.   Sometimes the Priest gives the first name in English.  Sometimes he mis-spells a first name.  Sometimes he changes the way he spells first names.  Outside of all of that though this section of the register is reasonably easy to read.

Spellings generally tend to be as I read them though I do have to say I was typing in Brigida all the time until it dawned on me that the Priest had a ‘d’ before the g.  The index is sorted by surname of the father
