Omey (Clifden) Marriage Index 1839-54

The following table of Omey (aka Clifden, Ballindoon, Ballyconneely) marriages is transcribed from Microfilm No. 4218/1 held online by the National Library of Ireland accessible through their Roman Catholic Parish Register Search page.  This is an index of the names of the people who were married in this Roman Catholic parish during the years 1853-57.  This section of the register is in English.

My list is sorted by the surname of the groom.  Question and dot marks indicate letters or words I had a problem reading.  Place names are not given in this section of the register.

This section of the register was a bit strange in that the 1839 marriages followed those for 1845. The register states that these marriages were performed by the Rev. Edward Gibbons.  There are 3 marriages for 1839, 1 for 1840 and then we go into 1850.  Between the 30th July 1853 and the 8th August there is on entry which cannot be read.  The entry for Bartly Early & Biddy simply says Bartly & Biddy Early – does this mean that her maiden name was also Early?  For many of the entries instead of listing witnesses the register simply says ‘before the flock’ meaning that the parish were the witnesses.
